Get those motors running: A new car show comes to New Hampshire

It is winter here, and we have plunging temperatures and sub-zero wind chill. But, you know what is warming up. The idea that Spring will be here, with the cars coming out of the garage, the bikes revving, and the trucks being readied.

Why?

There is a new car show coming from the guys at Monadnock Cars & Culture. When? May! Who do we want to see? Everyone!

If you have followed the journey of Powerless Over Cars, you know that I am “addicted” to speed, machines, and a degree of noise!

I go to a lot of shows. This one is different. It is just down the road.

In November, as the shows in New England were coming to an end, I had just put the 1974 Monte Carlo in the garage for the winter. Add in that my wife had health issues, leaving me with plenty of time to dream.

And maybe I have a one-track mind, but the car show was at the forefront of my thinking. Part of my thinking was that I go to cool shows in places like Lake George and Syracuse, New York, and ones that are a little closer in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts, but I thought it would be cool to have one in my backyard. So, I began to think about all the places “I could do it,” and then I had a big idea. What about the Cheshire Fairgrounds?

And the process began. Inquiries, conversations with police, fire, and rescue, and learning the process for permits, etc.

Monadnock Cars & Culture Car Show

At first, it was just a “car show, you know, with classics and new muscle cars. Then I thought about some of my kids who love going to see classics, but when a Supra shows up, the Fast and Furious crew appears.

Then, I thought, what about bikes, maybe a Touch-A-Truck, vendors, food, things for children, and what the heck, let’s make it family. (I think part of it was writing articles about kids and car shows.

Got a truck, a car, a bike, or even an old tractor? Join us.

Whether you are a collector, a weekend cruiser, or someone who just loves the sound of a cool motor, this is for you!

A few conversations later, and I was on my way. Bringing my grandson, Jacob, and my friend Kevin Barnes, owner of Alternative Detailing Solutions, along with me.

A Celebration of Automotive Culture

I know there are people like me who love vehicles of all sizes, shapes, years, and more.

I have invited other shows and organizations that think like me. That means a Porsche alongside a 55 Chevy. Or a 65 BSA next to a Peterbilt tractor.

How about some 1920s cars? Alongside a brand-new Hell Cat.

What You’ll Find at This Year’s Event

Right now these are the things I expect you will find.

  • Vehicles of all kinds. I hope to have some displays and themes to go along with this.
  • Child-related events alongside a Touch-A-Truck display.
  • Food and Vendors.

And anything else someone thinks about!

Community Connections

This show is about having fun with a lot of people who have amazing cars, trucks, and bikes. And making it fun so kids will think about vehicles with respect and hopefully get interested in some of the automotive trades. (And I would love to see the youth who are in the trades there.)

And our plan is to support PN4UINC, an area 501(c)3 nonprofit by donating a portion of proceeds to help them as they promote positive events and work to provide positivity and resilience education to students in collaboration with WiseNest.

A Full Day of Activities

Beyond the incredible vehicles on display, visitors can enjoy a variety of scheduled events, including:

  • Award ceremonies celebrating craftsmanship, originality, and style
  • Quality food trucks and vendors
  • Kids’ activities and family-friendly programming

There truly will be something for everyone.

How to Take Part

If you are interested in bringing a vehicle, all the details are on the website. You will also find Exhibitor and Vendor registration details will be available online at the site. Car owners of all makes and models are encouraged to participate—and early registration is typically recommended! Anything you need is on the website.

And while you are here there are great restaurants and places to stay.
