Last Show of The Season for Me

Yep. I am powerless over cars. And some of the vehicles I saw on Saturday? Well, they were pretty amazing.

This past weekend, for me, was my last show of the year. And what a day for the show! Beautiful blue skies with lots of sun. Not too hot. Jacob and I picked up a coffee and headed out. As we drove through small towns and on country roads, the foliage that makes New England famous had begun to appear.

Kevin and Stacy, owners of Alternative Detailing Services in Gilsum, New Hampshire, were hosting an invite-only event in Orange, Massachusetts. A few days of rain earlier in the week, but the day was stellar. It was a benefit for the Franklin County Community Meals Program. This organization works with the community to alleviate hunger and overcome food insecurity in the area.

Any time there is an opportunity to see great cars and support a good cause, it is a wonderful day! More businesses and car clubs are putting on shows that benefit people and communities. This was a good one!

Do Something Good!

Jacob and I attend several car shows each year. Almost everyone is helping organizations. Our annual event, the Adirondack Nationals, supports North Country Honor Flight. Frogg Brewing supported the Newport Veterans. EuroBilt put on a car show in Vermont and raised money for automotive technician scholarships. And the list goes on!

Like many shows, there was a raffle. They were raffling off prizes to raise money for the organization.

We parked in the next lot. (Sorry, Jacob. It was the only space left, and the puddle wasn’t that big!)

As we walked over, we met with Clark’s Corvair Parts. They are located in Shelburne Falls,  Massachusetts. They are the largest supplier of Corvair parts in the world! Such a great connection. (In my youth, I had a ‘66 Corvair Spyder and it was a cool car.) Thanks for being at the show!

Jacob works for Alternative Detailing Services, and owners Kevin and Stacy, as well as Kayla and their friend Alex, were there. Alex is a car enthusiast and works with a private collection, including that awesome Olds Hydromatic Woody! Kayla brought that stunning blue Chevy Greenbriar station wagon.

This show was smaller than some of the ones we attended but it was a lot more personal and had some unusual vehicles. Big shows offer you the opportunity to see lots of cars, but often you don’t get the time to meet and talk with people. If you have followed us, you know that we love them both.  It was great to see some friends there and that is what the car world is all about. Building friendships.

While Jacob and I were there, some area folks began to appear with their cars, adding to the flavor of the show. The owner of a nearby shop, Grave Robbers Auto Restoration, showed up with a Monte Carlo and older Mustang. (These guys have a swap meet coming up on the 12th.) Nearby was a public park, and a baseball game was in progress. So, there were a lot of people in the area.

Clearly, I like cars. I think this show was a great showcase for a number of different cars and trucks. (For me, I think I would be hard-pressed to choose between the Falcon with the Mustang steering wheel, the ‘66 Ford, or the Greenbriar wagon.)

Thank you, Kevin and Stacy, and all those who helped you make this a great show.
