As we build for the future of Powerless Over Cars, I sense that it will involve a lot of moving parts. Kind of like a car!
My friends and family would tell you that while I have an appreciation for newer cars and all that they offer, I love the older cars and the styles and looks. Companies are a lot like that, some days.
In 1995, I started my first internet company and sold it a couple of years later, long before companies like Google emerged. The world of digital has undergone significant shifts in recent years. But the key factors of trust and value are just as important today as they were then.
As I work with my grandson, Jacob, at this company, we discuss various topics. He sees things differently. He loves cars, though he brings new ones to a new place. He loves cars, which means he is always talking to me about them. And he is the reason that I want the company to be successful. So, I have had to examine what I do differently or not do at all.
Before I launched, I reached out to a younger friend and got his input. He did the original thinking about various things. Then I brought another younger friend into the design, and more recently, I began working with a young man in another country who is passionate about the “supercars.”
As we began to build out our site, we framed it for car clubs and car shows, vehicle sales, stories, and the opportunity for people to make it “theirs.” I instructed my folks to begin developing the app, which would make it even easier to access.
And that brings me to this place. At one of my other companies, I work closely with both advertisers and sponsors. (And in another company, we are developing technology and a product designed to help car clubs grow.) I want to carry forward the old and meld it with the new.
To drive that, it requires good, old American cash. (Or crypto, if need be.)
It is easy to build the programs for Advertisers and Sponsors. We will also incorporate more photos, videos, and community involvement among car lovers!
And so, I want to introduce three areas that will benefit you, the reader.
The first is Referrals.
Referrals
I love the idea of “word of mouth.” (More on this in a moment.) Here are some quick stats I have learned over the years.
- 20%-50% of purchasing decisions are influenced by word of mouth.
- Word of mouth drives approximately $6 trillion in annual customer spending.
- Referrals from friends and family are 4 times more likely to lead to a purchase.
- Word of mouth leads to 5 times more sales than paid advertisements.
- 92% of consumers trust recommendations from friends and family more than any other form of marketing.
Here is the “more.” We call it “word of mouth,” but a lot of “word of mouth” is driven by ads people have seen, read, or listened to. “For instance, I see in the paper that fuel oil is on sale for X. My friend is looking for a deal on fuel oil, and I tell him about the price.
Powerless Over Cars is going to develop sales and referrals.
REFERRALS
Referrals are generated when you tell your favorite car seller that they can list their car here and you give them your code to use.
We have multiple areas of income that can and will receive referral money. Currently this will include Sponsors and Advertiser sales, Car Sales (Both individual and corporate) and, Car Clubs. There will be more opportunities in the future.

10%1-3
- Bring us 1-3 sales and you will receive 10% of each of those sales.
20% 4-10
- Bring us 4-10 sales, and you will receive 20% of each of those sales.
25% 11 and more
- Bring us 11+ sales and you will receive 25% of each of those sales.
The clock will restart each calendar year. But, I will pay 10% of all sales that renew each year. The legal part is when you hit $600 in referrals, you will receive a 1099 for the good old IRS.
After you make your first referral, we will offer you 20% off any merchandise in our shop, as well as a personal discount on any of our programs.
And if you are a car club, we are putting together a special program to develop income for your club!
SALES
The second place is in sales. We are seeking an individual interested in establishing a steady income stream through consistent and regular sales. 1099 NEC (For 1099-NEC, Nonemployee Compensation) and you will receive commissions. I hope to find people who love cars, love people, and want to make some money.
We have multiple areas of income that can and will receive commission money. Currently, this will include Sponsors and Advertiser sales, Car Sales (Both individual and corporate), and Car Clubs. There will be more opportunities in the future.
And if you are already selling, this is a gimme!
The commission rate will be 25%. You will be listed on our website, and we will drive traffic to you in your home state to begin. We will also provide additional services as we move forward.
And know that I have over 50 years in sales and want you to make money!
