Revved Up & Streamed Out: Top YouTube Channels for Car Lovers 

My grandson, Jacob will check out car photos, Facebook marketplace, and the latest top YouTube videos and reels. He loves cars. At night, he will sit here and say, “Grandpa, what do you think about this car?” 

He loves cars. And we love going to car shows and checking out all the cars.  

In January, I made a decision that I was going to add more videos to my site Positive News For You and Powerless Over Cars. With Facebook, Instagram, and of course TikTok, placing huge emphasis on video, I decided to make changes. And have been working towards that end. 

Let’s be real. A lot of us who are car guys have watched car shows. Perhaps a lot of them. A friend of mine, said he needs to stop watching Mecum Auctions TV, because it makes him feel bad about all the cars he had owned in his youth! 

I grew up with cars. It probably began sitting on my daddy’s lap or riding with my grandfather. How many times did I sit in the front of a car and pretended to drive. When I was 9 years old, I started pumping gas for a guy named Frank Barone in Northford Connecticut, in 1964. After he gave up his lease, it was a guy named Mickey Merletti, and then a guy named Pete. My personal first car was a 1936 Chevy Master Deluxe, followed closely by a ‘56 Dodge pickup. Before that it was motorcycles, motorbikes, go carts and whatever else a motor would squeeze into.

And I am pretty glad that they didn’t have cell phones, or I might still be in trouble.  

I was in love with TV shows, like Then Came Bronson, loved Evel Knievel, and thought Bullitt was the best. And then there were shows like The Dukes of Hazzard, Magnum PI, Knight Rider, Starsky & Hutch, and The A-Team.  

I have been all about cars since I could get in one. 

Today, I watch car shows on TV. Some of my favorites include Bitchin’ Rides (Met Dave Kindig and Kevin in the Adirondacks.), Overhaulin’ (I am a Chip Foose aficionado and I think he is a ROCKSTAR!), Counting Cars (I love their paint and creative metal. Most recently at Syracuse Nationals.), Iron Resurrection (I love Joe’s designs. He has been at the Adirondack Nationals), Rust Valley Restorers (Mike is out of his ever lovin’ mind and just a great guy!), Tex Mex Motors (I liked the relationship of Rabbit and  Scooter and was saddened by the death of Rabbit.) , Texas Metal (I like Bill Carlton and look forward to meeting him in Lake George in September.) , and Car Masters-Rust To Riches. ( I love what they do to move ahead.) I could probably come up with another 10 without blinking an eye.

A friend of mine in the middle east shared with me that he loves Super Car Blondie.  

He wrote me… 

“You should collaborate with biggest cars content creators, such as SuperCar Blondie. I am big fan of her because I love super and muscle cars since childhood 😍” 

I wrote back… 

“I understand your love for SuperCar Blondie and her videos. That is a good idea. Let me think how I might pull this together.”

I like cars. Pretty much all cars. Well, ‘cept maybe Yugo’s. I go to a show with a thought process, and somebody pulls up with a 1955 MG TD, and I’m transported back to my youth. I wasn’t a Corvette guy, and then a friend opened a Corvette Museum. When I got in that 1956 ‘Vette of his and drove it, my life changed. I think every car ought to bring a degree of excitement. (And maybe a touch of fear.) 

When I was about 17 I bought a ‘70 Cougar Eliminator. Bright orange, black stripes, a modified Boss 302 pushing about 600 HP. When I dropped the exhausts it was a like a jet. A friend wrote me a few months ago. He said, “That car scared the S___ out of me.” (And got me a LOT of tickets) I watch lots of car videos with lots of scary cars.

The Biggest and The Best

So, let’s talk about some of the biggest and best.  

If you start with SuperCar Blondie, you can forget the traditional car. You will see supercars and prototypes. Crazy cars! 

And no YouTube car conversation can be discussed with Top Gear. Classic ar discussion, humor and more.

Are we waiting for the Fast ‘n’ Furious? 

I think the big deciding factors have to do with the quality of the content. Does it look good?  And if there is audio, is it good? 

Jacob and I incorporate music in much of what we do. I wish we had an interviewer. There are amazing stories to be heard.  

I like video that explains things well. I love guys like Chip Foose, because they provide great drawings to accompany conversations.  

Jacob and I are working to provide more than the “shot.” I have a friend named Tina, who does a lot of artsy related content. I look forward to being able to show you some of her work in the future.
