Tonight, in Keene New Hampshire we are looking at a frost warning. The trees have begun to shed their leaves across the Northeast.
The science behind foliage is that as the days grow shorter and colder, trees shut down their production of chlorophyll, and the underlying pigments are revealed. Firstly, in the swamp and wet areas, and then we see the bright colors of deciduous trees, most notably maple, aspen, birch, oak, and gum. The brighter colors against the conifers. Simply awesome!
But let’s talk cars!
As the days wane, we have fewer car shows in the Northeast, especially as “what if it snows” is on everyone’s mind! So, we do the shows we can before we retire vehicles to the garage.
This weekend, there is a show called The British Invasion. (The British Invasion is a British lifestyle event that started “over a pint of ale” in Stowe, Vermont, in 1990. It is a three-day event that includes “all things British”, with primary focus on classic British motorcars.) Our friends Joel and Robin are up there!
Next weekend, Jacob and I will be at the Orange Pantry Open House and Invitational Car Show in Orange, Massachusetts. That may well be our last for the season.
And then thoughts turn to garaging the vehicle. My friend, Kevin, who owns Alternative Detailing Solutions, LLC. He is a Vehicle Protection Specialist. I am sure he has a lot of thoughts about putting cars up. (And yes, my grandson, Jacob, works for him.) Even if you don’t garage your vehicle or want to ensure your daily driver is ready for the winter here in New England, he is a great resource. (He is also putting on the Orange Show I mentioned.)
So, what is next?
At Powerless Over Cars, I hope we start to see more shows across the warmer states.
It is our heart that people begin to list their car shows for next year, as well as cruise nights. You will find the dates for two EuroBuilt shows, as well as the Syracuse Nationals and the Adirondack Nationals. (Heck, I booked my VRBO before I left. I am so looking forward to being back there!) So, list your shows!
Do you belong to a car club? Share the links and get your club in the limelight! People come together with greasy hands and open hoods! Amazing car clubs put on some of the best shows in my region. Some of them are Car Nutz, RAVE, EuroBuilt, and Albany Rods and Kustoms. If you belong to one of these clubs, see to it that they get them up online with us.
